We have Questions about your game. Mostly:

Can we
play it?

Video previews, reviews, written content, and crowdfunding coverage from a team that genuinely loves discovering new games.

Our Excuse to Play More Games!

Whether you're launching a crowdfunding campaign, preparing for retail release, or looking to introduce players to your latest creation, we offer several forms of coverage.

Video Reviews

Honest, thoughtful reviews focused on helping gamers decide whether a game belongs in their collection.

Previews

Get an early look at upcoming releases, crowdfunding campaigns, and prototype games before they hit the table.

Written Features

Articles, previews, event coverage, and additional thoughts shared through BoardGameGeek and The Nook.

Content Creation

Typical Turnaround:

Most reviews and previews are completed within 1–2 months of receiving the game.

Larger games, campaign games, or particularly complex titles may require additional time.

What We Need:

To create meaningful coverage, we require:

  • A playable prototype
  • A review copy
  • Or a retail edition

Digital rulebooks, player aids, and supplementary materials are always appreciated.

Open Communication:

Rules questions happen.

We appreciate having direct communication with publishers and designers throughout the process so we can accurately represent your game and clarify any uncertainties that arise during testing.

Crowdfunding Projects:

Whenever possible, we like to coordinate preview coverage around campaign launches and marketing timelines. Early communication helps ensure the best possible scheduling for everyone involved.

Keeping Things Honest

We don't charge for reviews or previews.

After all, it would be a little strange to promise an honest opinion while someone is paying for it.

The tabletop community is built on trust, and we take that seriously. Every game we cover receives the same treatment: we get it to the table, play it with real groups, discuss it, debate it, and share our genuine thoughts.

Sometimes that means discovering a new favourite. Sometimes it means finding a few rough edges. Either way, our audience deserves honesty, and creators deserve authentic feedback.

Your Game, Our Thoughts!

Note: We do accept prototype, retail and review copies of games for the purpose of creating content. We also greatly appreciate finalized production copies for crowdfunding games we worked on and liked; though it is never required or expected. Just appreciated!

Our Philosophy

Why We Take Our Time

A surprising number of games are fun at two players.

A much smaller number are fun at every player count printed on the box. That's one of the reasons we prefer to play games with multiple groups whenever possible.

Our team regularly works with a variety of gaming groups, ranging from casual family gamers and hobby enthusiasts to experienced strategy players. Testing games across different player counts and experience levels helps us create more informed and useful coverage.

Because let's be honest—your game deserves more than a single rushed playthrough.

Recent Example of our work.

Why Choose Us

There are plenty of places to get your game featured, but we believe great coverage comes from people who live and love the hobby. With over 15 years of gaming experience, multiple regular play groups, and a massive board game collection, we don’t just understand games—we actively play them at scale. Our goal isn’t simply to create content—it’s to showcase your game accurately, honestly, and in a way that helps players understand what makes it work and who it’s for.

Passion for the Hobby

We’ve been playing board games for over 15 years, and that experience drives everything we do.

It shapes our coverage beyond rules and first impressions, focusing on what actually matters at the table—helping players understand what they’ll truly enjoy and why.

Constructive Feedback

We give clear, grounded feedback that’s useful even when a game isn’t a perfect fit. We focus on what works, what doesn’t, and why it feels that way in play.

The goal is actionable insight designers and publishers can use to improve the experience.

Reliable Collaboration

We respect timelines, communicate clearly, and stay aligned throughout the process, including release schedules and crowdfunding campaigns.

The result is a smooth, predictable workflow designers and publishers can rely on.

You're In Good Company!

"The Board Game Nook was the first reviewer to cover our debut game, Scare B&B. They played it with a wide range of groups, asked thoughtful questions, and gave us genuinely valuable feedback along the way. Jason and Tonia have a real love for games, and we couldn't have asked for a better team to be our very first reviewer."

-- Richard Harriman, Wicked Weird Games

"We loved the work Board Game Nook put into our game review. From the detailed explanation to the costumes it was one of the best game reviews we've seen of our game. Highly recommend working with the team at Board Game Nook!"

-- Jed Woods, Sinderstone Games

"Board Game Nook provided invaluable feedback during the final stages of development of both DeckHand and DeckHand: Race for Infamy. Their playtesting was thorough, thoughtful, and it was clear they had played the games many times, exploring every detail and strategy. Jason asked insightful questions, identified areas that needed clarification, and consistently provided constructive feedback that helped me with the rulebook. Their professionalism, communication, and genuine passion for board games made them a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Board Game Nook to any designer looking for quality playtesting and game development feedback, and would encourage fellow designers to put a copy of their game in their hands."
