The Board Game Flea Market Was Everything We Hoped For (and More)!

Well… that happened.

Our second Board Game Flea Market has officially come and gone, and we’re still recovering from the sheer amount of cardboard-based temptation that filled Montrose Community Hall.

From the moment the doors opened, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a quiet day of casual browsing. Tables were packed, conversations were flowing, and dice were absolutely not the only things being rolled (we saw some very ambitious budget decisions happening in real time).

The venue stayed busy throughout the entire event, with visitors digging through stacks of games, discovering unexpected treasures, and reconnecting with familiar favourites they thought they’d never see again. A few games definitely left with new homes before their original owners had time to emotionally prepare.

Setup Chaos

First thing in the morning, the hall quickly comes alive as vendors stream in, hauling boxes, setting up tables, and carefully arranging their games while the space slowly transforms into a bustling board game marketplace—long before most people have even thought about coffee. One of our favourite parts of the day was watching the constant cycle of discovery: someone spots a game they’ve been hunting for, someone else gets introduced to a new obsession, and someone else walks away wondering how they suddenly ended up carrying three boxes heavier than they intended. A classic Flea Market story, really.

We also saw a fantastic mix of the community come through the doors. Long-time gamers, curious newcomers, collectors, families, and everyone in between helped turn the day into exactly the kind of event we hoped it would be: busy, friendly, and just the right amount of chaotic.

Market in Full Swing!

The hall is fully set and buzzing with life—tables packed with games, vendors chatting with customers, and patrons moving through the rows, browsing HUGE piles of tabletop gems in search of their next great discovery.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our vendors for bringing such an incredible variety of games and tabletop goodies. The creativity, variety, and enthusiasm on display made it impossible not to find something interesting at every table.

And of course, thank you to everyone who came out, supported the event, and helped spread the word. It’s clear that this kind of gathering has a real place in our community, and we’re beyond happy with how it all turned out.

As for what’s next… let’s just say this might not be the last time you see a room full of board games and slightly overwhelmed shoppers.

Until next time, happy gaming!
