About Us

First off, thank you for taking the time to stop by and join us at The Nook!

Whether you're a seasoned board gamer, a roleplaying veteran, a miniature enthusiast, or someone who's just beginning to explore the world of tabletop gaming, we're glad you're here. The world of gaming has grown tremendously over the years, and so has the community surrounding it.

What was once considered a niche hobby has become a thriving culture filled with incredible games, creative people, and unforgettable experiences. These days, being a geek isn't something to hide—it's something to celebrate.

At its heart, The Nook is about sharing our passion for gaming and helping others discover theirs. Whether you're looking for your next favourite board game, curious about roleplaying games beyond Dungeons & Dragons, or simply searching for people who get excited about cardboard, dice, and tiny plastic miniatures, you've come to the right place.

We're just a group of slightly obsessed gamers who love this hobby and wanted to create a place where others could feel at home. So grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and make yourself comfortable.

Welcome to The Nook!

Our Origin Story

Like most good stories, this one started with a YouTube video.

A link to Rodney Smith’s Mansions of Madness playthrough somehow turned into a full watch session, which then turned into a deep dive into board games as a whole. That deep dive quickly turned into research, which led us to a local gaming group… tucked away in what can only be described as a slightly questionable, very secluded warehouse.

Naturally, we went.

What followed was years of playing games with the same group, slowly growing a shared collection, and discovering just how deep the hobby really went. One game turned into ten, ten turned into a shelf problem, and eventually that shelf problem turned into something much larger.

What We Do

At some point, it stopped feeling like “just a hobby” and started feeling like something worth sharing.

That’s where the idea for a project first took shape — something that could bring together everything we loved about board gaming and make it accessible to others. That idea eventually became The Nook.

One of the earliest steps along the way was a Kickstarter project for our Meeple-themed stockings, which helped fund the very first version of the website. From there, things began to grow in ways we probably should have expected, but didn’t entirely plan for.

We started creating content, sharing reviews and previews, and eventually hosting community events like game nights and flea markets. Each step pulled us a little further into the world we’d already been building around ourselves.

Our Goals

  • Create fun, informative, and engaging tabletop gaming content
  • Help gamers discover new games, hobbies, and adventures
  • Bridge the gap between board games, RPGs, and miniature gaming
  • Make learning new games enjoyable and approachable
  • Encourage positive social interaction through gaming
  • Develop creative scenarios, campaigns, variants, and house rules worth sharing

Our Promise

At The Nook, we are a positive force within the gaming community, and we welcome gamers of all backgrounds and experience levels. We promote inclusivity, curiosity, and respect in everything we do, and we celebrate all corners of the hobby—from board games and RPGs to miniatures and beyond.

A Seat at the Table

At the end of the day, games are really just an excuse to bring people together.

Some create unforgettable stories. Some spark lifelong friendships. Some lead to fierce rivalries that may or may not still be discussed years later. Whatever form they take, the best moments in gaming are usually the ones shared with others.

We're glad you found your way here, and we hope The Nook becomes a small part of your own tabletop journey.

Until then, may your dice roll high, your rules disputes stay friendly, and your shelf always have room for just one more game.
